Come Along for the Run

I have a confession to make--I've been lying to my primary care physician for years.  The last time I exercised regularly was approximately five years ago, and my diet, for the most part, consists of pizza, cheeseburgers, Subway subs, and Chinese food.  At my next checkup however, I plan to tell the truth because 161 days from today I'll be running in one of the most prestigious running events in the world, the Boston Marathon, and if I want to cross the finish line on April 18th, I have no choice but to overhaul both my diet and my exercise routine.

There is no question that the marathon will require a few sacrifices.  The 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston is onerous enough, but the hundreds of miles and the hours of training through the cold New England winter are even more intimidating.  As challenging as they will be though, I am really looking forward to the next five and a half months, and I'm sure that in the end it will all be worth it.

I started this blog so you can share in this experience.  Become a follower and come along for the run!
